Admissions

2010/2011 School Year Procedures

1. Submit the Application
New Applicants
Applications are currently being accepted for new students for the 2010/2011 school year. Please consider applying now to ensure more convenient selections for scheduling the student assessment and family interview. The deadline for submitting an application is February 15th. If openings at your child’s grade level are still available after the deadline, we will process applications received accordingly. Please contact the admissions office to determine availability.

To apply online, please follow the link at the bottom of this section. It will take you to a new window where you must select "AlmadenDB_v2" and then log in by selecting "Guest Account". You do not need to enter an account name or password. Your application will be submitted directly to the Admissions Office and you will be contacted shortly about the next steps for your application. Please read the instructions at the end of the application about submitting your $100 application fee.

Additional supporting materials are also required. Please mail Almaden Country School a copy of your child's 2 most recent school reports and any standardized testing he or she has completed. There is also a required teacher recommendation. You may download a PDF of the Preschool Evaluation Form or the Elementary and Middle School Evaluation Form by clicking here, or contact the Admissions Office to have a copy mailed to you. Your child's current teacher will complete this form and return it directly to Almaden Country School.

To submit a paper copy of your application to the Admissions Office with a $100 non-refundable fee, you may download the Enrollment Application PDF or call (408) 997-0424 x 222 to request that an application be mailed to you.

2. Student Assessment
The Admissions Office will call to schedule a student assessment. Students in Grades 1-8 applying to Almaden Country School will be scheduled to shadow for two days at their current grade level. Students applying for Kindergarten or Jr. Kindergarten will be scheduled for an individual assessment with one of our teachers. (There is no charge for either assessment.) All students should submit past grade reports and standardized testing (if applicable) by the date of their scheduled assessment. Students seeking admission during the summer months will be scheduled for testing with an Almaden Country School teacher.

3. Parent Interview
The Admissions Office will schedule appointments for parents to meet with the Director of Admissions, Mrs. Janet Richardson.

4. Notification
Decision letters will be mailed in the first week of March or within 2 weeks of the student assessment for applications received in the spring.
