Twenty-five years at Almaden Country School—An Oral History
Our Mission
We are all part of history. Each of us is engaged in the process of simultaneously making and experiencing what will become our past. The Almaden Country School Oral History Project is an examination of the founding and history of our school, through historical research, examination of the techniques of oral history, and collecting and interpreting of interviews.
As part of the project, we are interviewing the school’s founder and founding administration and faculty. Students are doing background research on the history of the school, and studying and practicing oral history interviewing techniques.
We are asking questions about Almaden Country School’s beginning, what it was like when it was young, and what inspired ACS’s founder to create our school. We are also looking at the school's philosophy and how it has been implemented over the past twenty-five years.
This project is an effort to bring history alive for our students, by engaging them actively in an examination of relevant history. We hope it will provide a foundation for studying the history of our school as well as looking forward to it’s future.
